The early childhood years are a precious time. The birth of a child begins a journey of exploration of the world. We honor the child in this journey, and with love and care, we help support their growth and development. Our Licensed Early Childhood Family Daycare program welcomes children from four weeks to five years of age. Our Remote Learning, Holiday (out of school) and After-School program welcome children from five to twelve years of age. We recognize the different developmental stages of the young child and help them transition with ease and at their own pace.
Our space invites children to explore, play and work. We offer meaningful, practical activities such as preparing snacks by making bread, from milling the wheat to kneading the dough, and washing and cutting vegetables to make soup. There are artistic activities such as watercolor painting, drawing and crafts. During creative and self-directed play, the child is given the freedom to explore the environment. Through imaginative play, children work to understand the world they are living in and develop social skills with their classmates. We support this by being present and allowing the children to begin and end unique adventures either through indoor or outdoor play.
We bring our daily activities into a happy and steady rhythm which supports a feeling of security in the children and supports a healthy social experience. Our daily rhythm includes outdoor play, indoor play, storytelling, family-style meals and a peaceful rest. It is our intent and commitment to provide an environment where children can feel safe and connected to a day and time in their community.
We celebrate language. Our program is a bilingual program. We present Spanish day by day in an organic way. The language flows through our day and invites the children to make it their own. They can take in as little or as much as they desire and at their own pace. Whether the children are fluent or experiencing Spanish for the first time, we work together as a community to grow in the language.
For a child to adopt a language it should be introduced with a sense of richness in vocabulary and expressions. Our teacher and caregivers are native Spanish speakers and bring to the child Spanish in a clear and conscious way. We have caregivers that will speak only Spanish to the children and a lead teacher that will speak English to the children and work with Spanish through songs, verses and stories.
We have seen that if you give children the opportunity to be exposed to a second language they often rejoice and receive it in a genuine and open manner.
We invite you to inquire about our bilingual program if you have further questions.
